An introduction to high-performance computing for those without any HPC experience.

Course plan:

• verify that all attendees can access the cluster that will be used during the school
• hardware overview
• basic knowledge/tools necessary to work with the cluster: how to log in, transfer files, make scripts, compile code, submit jobs, etc.
• debugging
• profiling
• optimization
• best practices
• overview of what is going to be presented in the other sessions

Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of Linux command line
